About the event

One year after Donald Trump’s return to the White House, the United States stands at a crossroads—between populist resurgence and institutional resilience, renewed assertiveness abroad and deepening divisions at home. The “America First” agenda has reshaped not only U.S. domestic politics but also the global balance of power, prompting questions about the future of democracy in the West and the endurance of the international order.

This event brings together leading experts to debate the inner workings and global impact of the Trump administration. From the state of U.S. democracy and the role of media and technology, to the administration’s foreign policy approach to the Middle East and Eastern Europe, the discussion will explore how American politics is redefining both its internal order and its place in the world.

With Prof. Chiara Graziani (Bocconi University) setting the context and moderating, Amedeo Maddaluno (Transearch), and Prof. Gianluca Pastori (Università Cattolica & ISPI) will offer distinct perspectives to unpack the complex dynamics shaping the United States and the international system in the age of Trump.
