On March 18th, 2025  the Hungarian Parliament banned the country's annual festival of the LGBTQ+ community on its 30th anniversary. Such an accelerated parliamentary process for curbing a fundamental right has rarely been witnessed in Hungary. However, this move was hardly unexpected as it perfectly fits the narrative promoted by Orbán's government in its 15 years in power. Is the Pride Ban a ideological stand or a a calculated move within a broader political agenda?
